International School of Singapore ISS International School ( Singapore) is a K-12 IB World School with two campuses in the thriving green city of Singapore. We are a full IB Primary Years, IB Middle Years, and IB Diploma Program authorized school, and have enjoyed back to back 6 year authorizations from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC). We are almost at capacity with approximately 700 students from 50 nationalities, and approximately 70 teachers from 17 nationalities. More details about our school can be found at www.iss.edu.sg. ISS teachers are expected to have a strong ICT/IT background, and incorporate appropriate ICT/IT use into their teaching. All K-12 teachers are required to adopt our online Atlas Rubicon curriculum mapping program for curriculum development. All High School teachers are required to integrate Blackboard (the industry leading e-learning platform) into their classes and teaching. Many High School classrooms have digital SMART boards as well. Full commitment to the school and its various activity programs and events is required by both our students and our staff. For most positions, we will be conducting interviews at the SEARCH fair in London (February 2008) and SEARCH Toronto (February 2008). We possibly will be attending SEARCH Dubai (March 2008) as well. ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IB PYP Coordinator + Curriculum Development Pre-School to Grade 5 (post still available) The school has a strong Primary Years Programme. It was accredited in 2002 and underwent evaluation in 2005. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced PYP Coordinator with PYP teaching experience, who is passionate about the programme. S/he will have a keen desire to further develop our program and to maintain our high profile in the Singapore scene. The successful candidate will be involved in every aspect of the PYP within our school, from assisting classroom teachers implement the PYP to the fullest, to monitoring assessment, to developing curriculum, to discussing curriculum with prospective parents, to staff training, to developing an action plan for the development of the program, to championing the PYP. The successful candidate will also be a member of the Curriculum Committee which oversees curriculum development school wide. Our faculty, board, and administration are all fully supportive of the PYP. A key component of this position will be the finalizing of our standards and benchmarking process. Although the initial contract duration is 2 years, given the nature of the post, it is expected that the successful candidate would commit to longer.
HIGH SCHOOL IB Diploma Coordinator + Curriculum Development Grades 11 and 12 (post still available) The post is available currently – but the school is prepared to delay an appointment in order to attract the best candidate. This is a key mid-level leadership position in the High School, and is an administrative position. The school has a strong Diploma Programme. It was accredited in 2001 and has undergone re-evaluation since. Additionally, the school has also been accredited and re-evaluated for PYP and MYP. Our ideal candidate will be an experienced Diploma Coordinator with Diploma teaching experience, who is passionate about the programme. S/he will have a keen desire to further develop our program and to maintain our high profile in the Singapore scene. The successful candidate will be involved in every aspect of the Diploma Programme within our school, from assisting classroom teachers implement the Diploma to the fullest, to monitoring assessment, to developing curriculum, to discussing curriculum with prospective parents, to staff training, to developing an action plan for the development of the program, to championing the Diploma programme in particular – and all three IB programmes in general. The successful candidate will also be a member of the Curriculum Committee which oversees curriculum development school wide – and will have considerable influence in this area. Our faculty, board, and administration are all fully supportive of all the IB programmes. A key component of this position will be the finalizing of our standards and benchmarking process. The school has embarked recently on a project to introduce an Apple Mac one-to-one laptop programme in our High School. The successful candidate will be expected to work with our E-learning Coordinator and Head of High School to support and assist the further development of IT in the curriculum in general, and this laptop project in particular. Additionally, the post holder will be expected to be responsible for the coordination of external exams and testing. Although the initial contract duration is 2 years, given the nature of the post, it is expected that the successful candidate would commit to longer.
