ISS is well known for its talented and caring faculty. Elements that are important when examining a school's teachers include their professional experience (how many years have they taught before), their formal education (what university degrees do they hold and from where), their length of tenure (how long have they stayed at ISS), and their ongoing training. We are fortunate to have an outstanding faculty, with a tremendous experience base and background. Many of our faculty hold Master's Degrees, and several more hold PhDs. All ISS teachers are thoroughly trained by the IB. In fact, we greatly exceed the IB's training requirements of our staff. We also value our teacher diversity, which is why our teachers are recruited from more than 17 countries.
Another indicator of a good school is the presence of "teacher trainers" on faculty. For a school of our size, our faculty has garnered more than their share of IB Workshop Leaders, IB Examiners, IB Moderators, and authors. We are especially fortunate to have several faculty members who are frequent members of IB Schools Authorization Teams, and Council of International Schools (CIS) Visiting Accreditation Teams. It is also noteworthy that many of our teachers receive commendations from the IB MYP and IB DP for their standard and grading of school based coursework.
