HS Graduation Night
Dear Graduates, Parents and Guardians,

The Class of 2012 will graduate from ISS International School Singapore on Tuesday May 22, 2012 at 7:30pm. The ceremony will be at the Orchard Hotel at 442 Orchard Road. We will continue with the tradition of having our own graduates as speakers at the ceremony, to share their stories. Also, Mr. David Paul, one of our High School teachers, was chosen by the graduates to speak on behalf of the faculty.

Please read the following information very carefully:

The Ceremony
The graduation ceremony will be on Tuesday evening, May 22, 2012, at the Orchard Hotel, 442 Orchard Road, Orchard Grand Ballroom 3, Level 3. Seating for parents and guests attending the ceremony will begin at 7:30pm (students must arrive at 5:30pm for a rehearsal). The ceremony will conclude by approximately 9:00pm. There will be light refreshments offered after the ceremony. Car parking is available at the hotel.

Caps and gowns
At the graduation ceremony, graduates will wear a blue cap and gown. IB Diploma students will wear a gold-colored tassel on the cap and IB Course students will wear a silver-colored tassel. Students have been fitted for their gowns and each student's gown will be ready for them to put on at the hotel at 5:30pm.

How to dress for the ceremony
Males:
  • Collared, button-down dress shirt

  • Dark black or dark blue trousers

  • Dress/formal dark shoes -- NO SNEAKERS or CASUAL SHOES.

You will have to borrow or buy appropriate shoes/clothes very quickly if your shoes or any of your attire is deemed inappropriate. If you are in doubt, please check with Mrs. Faris before graduation.

Females:
  • Dress (NO strapless dress, NO spaghetti straps, NO bra straps showing) OR blouse & skirt OR blouse & dark dressy trousers.

  • Comfortable, elegant shoes - NO SNEAKERS or CASUAL SHOES. You will have to borrow or buy appropriate shoes/clothes very quickly if your shoes or any of your attire is deemed inappropriate. If you are in doubt, please check with Mrs. Faris before graduation.

Please take note - Graduation is a formal occasion. You will want to look your very best. Students may not be allowed to participate in graduation if they come to the ceremony inappropriately dressed, with altered hair color, etc.

Rehearsal
Important! All students MUST be at the Orchard Hotel at 5:30pm for rehearsal. If a student does not attend the rehearsal, they cannot take part in the graduation ceremony. There will be no time to go home between the rehearsal and the ceremony. Be sure to eat something prior to the coming to the Orchard Hotel.

Invitations
Graduates will receive two (2) free invitations for guests to attend the ceremony. Please collect them from the University Advising office beginning Monday, May 7th, 2012. If you wish to invite extra guests, extra tickets are for sale at $20 per ticket. Purchase these extra tickets from Ms. Pat. There are only a limited number of extra tickets available. Do not assume your friends will be allowed into Graduation without a ticket. Check with Ms Pat in the High School office to see if seats are available. Invitations must be produced to gain entry to the Graduation Ceremony.

Diplomas
Diplomas will not be the scroll presented to you at the ceremony. The graduation certificate will be given to students after the cap and gown are returned immediately after the ceremony. Tassels may be kept by graduates. You must complete and submit the leaver's forms and all school accounts must be settled, before you are given your diploma. In the past, some students have had to make a special trip back to school to collect their certificate.

Transcripts
The Records Office prepares five (5) transcripts for each graduate and one letter of attendance for you to copy. These are given to students with your High School diploma. If you are not at the ceremony, please collect the documents from the records office. If more transcripts are required, please arrange with the Records Office to get them NOW. Do not wait - in order for a transcript to be valid, it must be signed. It may not be possible to get transcripts signed after June 2nd, 2012. No report cards are issued to graduates - your final transcript is your final report card.

Congratulations! You will soon be a high school graduate!
