- Student Custody and Parental Responsibility
The School recognises that parents may be divorced, separated, or subject to custody arrangements while continuing to share parental responsibility for their child.
For the purposes of enrolment and school administration, “Parents” shall refer to the student’s parents, legal guardians, or any person having parental responsibility for the student.
The School will strictly comply with any valid, current court order or legally binding document once it has been officially provided to and verified by the administration. The School also reserves the right to request additional information or documentation where necessary to verify parental rights, responsibilities, or authority.
Unless otherwise informed in writing and supported by valid legal documentation, the School shall assume that both parents have equal parental right and responsibility. As such, are entitled to receive information relating to the student’s education, welfare, attendance, behaviour, academic progress, and participation in school activities.
Where parents have joint parental responsibility, the School may communicate with either parent and may rely on instructions provided by either parent in relation to routine school matters unless the School has received written notice and supporting legal documentation stating otherwise.
The School will release the student only to the parent(s) designated with physical care and control during that specific period, or to individuals authorised on the School’s official emergency contact list. Any changes to pickup rights must be documented in writing.
- Parents are strictly responsible for informing the School promptly of any change in family circumstances that may affect parental rights, responsibilities, communication arrangements, or decision-making authority concerning the student.
- The School shall not be liable for any consequences arising from a parent’s failure to disclose or update information relating to custody arrangements, parental responsibility, or court orders.
- Where conflicting instructions are received from parents, the School reserves the right to halt action and request written agreement from both parents or require the submission of relevant legal documentation.
- The School shall not be responsible for resolving disputes between parents. Pending a formal resolution or mutual agreement, it may maintain existing arrangements or, where not possible, suspend or require the parents’ withdrawal of the student from the School.
- In the event of a forced suspension or withdrawal due to parental conflict, any outstanding refunds will be issued to the original billing account/payee on record, unless otherwise directed by a joint written agreement or court order.
