Student's Pass Requirement
Students who are not Singapore Citizens (SC), Singapore Permanent Residents (SPR), or holders of a valid Dependant’s Pass (DP), Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP), or other valid immigration pass permitting study in Singapore are required to obtain a Student’s Pass (STP) before commencing their studies at ISS International School (ISS).
The STP application is processed through the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority via the SOLAR+ (Student’s Pass Online Application & Registration Plus) system.
Application Process
Upon accepting the offer of admission and completing the enrolment requirements, applicants may choose one of the following options to apply for a STP:
Appoint ISS International School to Apply on Your Behalf
Parents may authorise ISS to submit the STP application on the student’s behalf via the ICA SOLAR+ system.
Our Admissions Team will provide guidance throughout this process, outlining the necessary steps and and application procedures. Required Supporting Documents is in the section below.
Submit the Student's Pass Application Independently
Parents may also choose to submit the STP application directly through the ICA SOLAR+ system. Under this option :
- ISS will provide a SOLAR+ reference number needed for application to parent/guardians.
- Parents/guardians will :
- complete the application,
- submit all required documents, and
- monitoring the application status.
- Required Supporting Documents are in the section below.
Important note:
The final approval and issuance of a STP are solely at the discretion of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), irrespective of the application method selected.
Student's Pass (STP) Application Process
The parent/guardian signs the Acknowledgement Form to confirm acceptance of the ISS Letter of Offer.
ISS provides the SOLAR+ Reference Number to the parent/guardian.
The parent/guardian prepares the required supporting documents as listed in the Admissions Document Checklist.
The parent/guardian submits the STP application through the ICA SOLAR+ System.
Applications are typically submitted 2 to 3 months before the commencement of the school term. Applicants do not need to be in Singapore to apply for a STP.
The parent/guardian completes the online application through the SOLAR+ System and uploads all required supporting documents. Please ensure that all information provided is accurate and complete.
The parent/guardian pays the non-refundable STP application fee through the ICA online payment system.
The parent/guardian waits for the outcome of the application. If the application is successful, ICA will issue an In-Principle Approval (IPA) Letter, which outlines the requirements for completing the STP formalities.
Upon arrival in Singapore, the parent/guardian and student should arrange an appointment with ICA to complete the STP formalities. Please refer to the Completion of Formalities and Issuance of Student’s Pass guide for more information.
Required Supporting Documents
The supporting documents required for the STP application may vary depending on the applicant’s circumstances and the ICA regulations.
For the complete list of required documents, please refer to this Application Checklist > Document Checklist. Additional documents may be requested by the School or ICA during the application process, where necessary.
Processing Time
STPs applications are processed by the ICA. Most applications are processed within 1 to 2 weeks.
However, in some cases, processing may take up to 8 weeks, depending on the completeness of the application and ICA’s assessment.
Parents are strongly encouraged to submit all required documents as early as possible to ensure timely approval before the student’s intended start date.
Other Important Information
Student's Pass Renewal
Parents, Guardians and Students are responsible for ensuring that their STPs remain valid throughout their studies.
The School will provide guidance on the renewal process where applicable. However, students, parents and guardians must monitor the expiry date of the STP and submit renewal documents promptly to avoid any interruption to the student’s legal stay and studies in Singapore.
Change of Particulars
Students and parents/guardians must inform the School immediately if there are any changes to the following information:
- Passport number or expiration date
- Singapore home address and contact number
- Email address
- Parent’s or guardian’s immigration status
- Any other information that may affect the student’s immigration status
Other Pass Holders
Students holding a valid Dependant’s Pass (DP), Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP), or Immigration Exemption Order (IEO) are generally exempted from obtaining a STP to study full-time at ISS. They may enrol directly with their existing pass.
If the student’s existing pass expires, is cancelled, or becomes invalid during the course of study, the student must apply for a STP to continue studying at ISS.
Important next step: inform the School as early as possible so that we can assist you with the necessary arrangements.
Digital Student's Pass
The STP is issued digitally through the FileSG mobile application. Physical STP cards are no longer issued by the ICA. Please note:
- The email address provided during the STP application will be used to access and retrieve the digital STP upon approval.
- If the email address or Singapore mobile number provided in the application belongs to a parent or guardian instead of the student, please ensure that:
- The student is aware of the registered email address and mobile number for use to retrieve the digital STP; and
- The owner of the registered email address and mobile number is aware that these details will be used for the retrieval of the student’s digital STP.
Important Note
The approval, renewal, cancellation, and issuance of a STP is solely at the discretion of the Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA). ISS will provide administrative support throughout the process but cannot guarantee the approval of any STP application.
