Middle School Service as Action Day 2

On Wednesday, June 6th, as part of our twice yearly Service as Action Day, the Middle School (MS) students participated in an ecological field trip to the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve here in Singapore.

All ready to set off!
Starting the scavenger hunt

The purpose of this experience was for the MS students to learn more about the flora and fauna found within the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. This is aimed at helping students understand, at a deeper level, the aims of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), in particular:

“Look at that!”

As well as the work on the SDGs each House (Newton, Orchard, Raffles, Somerset) were involved in a flora and fauna scavenger hunt/bingo game/crossword challenge to really immerse themselves in what can be seen and heard in the nature reserve.

The Service as Action day reinforces the school’s link to facilitating our student’s knowledge and understanding of the local community, and how this ties into each student being a global citizen.
