Caitlyn-Parish-01Since her graduation from ISS International School, Caitlyn Parish’s post-graduation adventure has unfolded as a captivating narrative of self-discovery, academic excellence, and purposeful service. An embodiment of the school’s values, Caitlyn’s story resonates as a beautiful testimony to personal and professional development.

Reflecting on her journey, Caitlyn shares, “I am truly happy.” Having earned a Diploma in Counselling and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology post-graduation, she found her calling as a Teacher for students with special needs at the Integrated International School. Caitlyn’s dedication to helping others, particularly those with diverse needs, has become the driving force behind her fulfilling career.

Acknowledging the pivotal role of Mr. Jungo, the IB Coordinator at the time, Caitlyn states, “If not for Mr. Jungo’s guidance, I wouldn’t have discovered my passion to continue studying Psychology.” The school’s values and IB Principles, she adds, ” advanced my growth mindset and strengthened my people skills.”

Caitlyn’s journey as an ISS student began in 2014 when she moved from Germany to Singapore. Despite initial reservations about leaving her home, ISS quickly became a welcoming community. Recalling fond memories, she says, “ISS made it worthwhile for me. Everyone at the school was so welcoming and friendly, and I felt a sense of belonging instantly.”

caitlyn-parish-02The transformative impact of ISS is evident in cherished memories like the Week Without Walls trip to  Cebu, Philippines, and the spirited swim galas and sports days that fostered a strong sense of camaraderie. Caitlyn’s journey is a testament to the transformative power of an ISS education.

Expressing gratitude to impactful educators, Caitlyn singles out Mr. Whitehead, saying, “If he had not put together the chance to go to the Rainbow Centre, I don’t think I would have developed the drive and love for what I am currently doing.” Additionally, she credits Mr. Jungo for being a pillar of support, stating, “I knew that no matter what was going on, I could go to Mr. Jungo and not feel judged.”

Offering advice to current ISS students, Caitlyn says, “Take it easy. Work hard, but don’t stress about what comes next.” Her own journey, marked by uncertainties upon leaving ISS, underscores the importance of trusting the learning and experiences gained at school to guide future paths. Caitlyn’s message to seniors is to savour their last few years, create lasting memories, be self-expressive, and, above all, be open-minded.

In Caitlyn Parish’s own words, “The welcoming nature of the school community gave me joy just to be in school every single day. So, thank you ISS”.
